Why we're only taking 1,000 at a time

We cap each batch at a thousand SIMs — not to create a rush, but so we can look after everyone properly.

We open Kindly a thousand SIMs at a time. That's a deliberate choice, and it isn't about scarcity.

A mobile network is mostly invisible until something goes wrong: a port that stalls, a bill that reads oddly, a question that needs a person rather than a form. Those moments are the whole job. If we grew faster than we could answer them, the thing we're building would stop being the thing we promised.

What the cap actually buys you

Real people on the end of the phone. Time to iron out the wrinkles before they reach the next batch. And a small enough group that your feedback genuinely changes what we build next — we read all of it, and quite a lot of it has already shipped.

What it isn't

It isn't a countdown. There's no timer, no "only X left", no pressure to decide today. When this batch is full, the next one opens. We'd rather you joined when it suits you and found everything working than joined in a hurry and found us stretched.

The bit that doesn't change

However big we get, £1 a month to the Kindly Fund stays built into every active SIM. Growing carefully is how we keep both halves of that promise — the mobile bit and the giving bit.
